Arnold Lowrey has been painting in a variety of media for over twenty-five years. His motivation has been the use of light in painting, but he now experiments more with colour and texture. His seascapes are especially vibrant and full of movement. Arnold also likes painting still life, landscapes, portraits and abstracts. He exhibits his paintings in Wales and London. Arnold holds regular weekend workshops and weekly painting courses, residential watercolour courses and demonstrations for Art Societies. he is also a painting demonstrator for several art material suppliers.

Aug 10 Those clever folk at Search Press have done it again; come up with another innovative idea. Frequent visitors to this site will know all about this publishing house's many excellent art books with their staged projects, but now here is a new thing - art cards. It looks just like a greetings card and comes with its own envelope, but open it up and inside is a loose double-sided sheet containing a staged project so you can paint the scene yourself! It may have an ISBN number but this is not a book as we know it; think of it more as a booklet. This is a delightful way to give the gift of painting to somebody who wants to take up watercolors. The project not only has a large number of stages in full color with useful captions, but it also tells you what you need to buy. The card itself is blank you for your own personal message and there are five others in the series, depicting boats, roses, a cottage door, a stairway and a unicorn for a variety of other occasions. Like all good ideas it is very simple when you think about it and actually costs less (£1.99) than many other greetings cards. An idea with legs I should imagine.
