In 1928, the Kansas City Star newspaper printed its first quilt block pattern—they continued this tradition for 34 wonderful and influential years. Now for the first time, the best of the blocks from each year can be found in one place! Slow down and stitch all 60+ vintage blocks, culminating in an unforgettable sampler quilt. Postcard Reviews

The history of these quilt blocks is absolutely fascinating. From 1928 - 1961 the stories behind them, how they were designed and who designed them give each block an interesting look at America's history with quilting.

The blocks all come with their story and templates, along with simple instructions, they can then be pieced together to make a fabulous family heirloom.

Quilts of old were made with old clothes and scraps, which gave them a history special to the family. I love the tales of the blocks, the women were resourceful as well as having a good eye for colour and shapes.

I love how the author has incorporated the original newspaper archives along with each block.

This is a book that every quilter will adore.  It is hard to find a favourite block but what is guaranteed is that whether your quilt be large or small. it will be a beautiful and useful addition for the home and will be used by generations to come.
