Book Description

Create 12 stunning crochet blankets: from thick, cozy covers for winter afternoons to lightweight throws for balmy summer evenings.

Slow down and enjoy the meditative process of creating something beautiful, practical and personal, stitch by stitch.

Perhaps the ultimate crochet project, blankets are versatile, giftable, can be made in your favourite yarns, and are free from the stress of complex sizing. In this beginner-friendly book from Naomi Harreman and Jolanda Verschiere (founders of popular crochet company Haakplein), discover 12 beautiful blankets: some featuring lace-like designs and filet crochet; some worked in blocks and strips to give you perfect on-the-go options; others worked sampler-style with different stitch patterns.

Inside you’ll find:

  • Adaptable designs: every pattern includes specific instructions on how to widen or lengthen the blanket, allowing you to customize the size to your specific needs.
  • 12 easy-to-follow projects: containing charts, written patterns, construction diagrams and step-by-step photographs, where necessary.
  • Blankets of varied skill levels: projects are categorized as Easy, Medium or Difficult, ensuring that both beginners and seasoned crocheters can find a project that matches their pace.
  • Modern techniques: learn professional finishes such as the long tail foundation for a stretchy start and the magic/adjustable ring for seamless centres and discover illustrated guides to all key stitches.
  • Enhanced visual navigation: a clever colour-coded system distinguishes between rounds worked on the front (in blue) and the back (in black) of the piece, making complex patterns easier to track.

A Year of Crochet Blankets is the ideal companion for your crafting journey, offering flexibility and clear guidance, laid out especially to cater for the creative mind. Whether you use the authors’ favourite colour palettes or choose your own, the book encourages you to treat these blankets as a canvas for your own inspiration.
