The ultimate quilt design tool: 50 inspiring modern patchwork blocks in a stunning plan-and-play card deck.

Lay the cards out, rotate them, repeat them, use them all or just a few, and create your own unique quilt with ease!

Bright, contemporary, and beautifully coordinating, these stunning quilt cards make it easy (and fun!) to visually plan out the layout and colours of your next project. Whether you want to make the full sampler quilt or just mix and match a few key favourites, you'll be spoilt for choice. The 50 gorgeous designs are photographed and shown in full colour on the front of each card; the fabric requirements and step-by-step block construction are given on the back of each card. Perfect for crafters who like to quilt on the go - just slip one, two or a few of the cards into your bag.

The cards (4 x 4in square):

  • A stunning collection of 50 traditional blocks with a modern twist.
  • On the front of each card is a photograph of the finished patchwork block; on the back you'll find fabric requirements and an illustrated step-by-step construction guide.
  • The finished quilt blocks measure 8 x 8in; on the cards each is shown at 50% of full-size.

The booklet (32 pages):

  • Contains a guide to getting the most from your cards; a quilting glossary; Holly's quilt 'recipe'; plus 12 step-by-step illustrated guides to key patchwork techniques, including creating Flying Geese, Half-Square Triangles and sewing Quarter and Half Circle curved units.
  • Expert tips for sewing curved blocks are included.

The template sheet:

  • Also contains a fold-out template sheet featuring full-size curved pattern pieces to trace off and use.

About the Author

About Holly Clarke

Holly is a modern quilter and graphic designer from Winnipeg, Canada.

She has been sewing since the late ’90s when she studied fine arts and graphic design at the University of Manitoba. She used her sewing skills and love of fabric to create a trendy hat business that helped her pay her way through university and many years later, she started a baby clothing company called Small Potatoes, which she still operates today. In 2017 she discovered the world of modern quilting and was instantly smitten by the intersection of shape, colour, and fabric.

Holly is inspired by the world around her, from shapes in nature and architecture, to bold visual graphics. Her design aesthetic is heavily influenced by being a child of the ’80s and her go-to colour palette is bright and bold and often includes hot pinks and sunny yellows; she loves to play with different effects such as transparency and contrast, and enjoys using traditional quilt blocks and playfully modernising them, for example using curves.
