Embroider your own Bayeux Tapestry dragons with this specially designed tote bag from artist and enthusiast Mia Hansson, author of Embroider the Bayeux Tapestry.
Breathe life into the two fierce, fire-breathing dragons from Embroider the Bayeux Tapestry, as seen in the outlines from the book, in doing so paying tribute to one of the world’s most incredible historical artefacts and putting your Anglo-Saxon embroidery skills to the test.
Using only 2 stitches (stem stitch and Bayeux stitch) and the four shades of 2-ply crewel wool used by Mia, gain inspiration from Mia’s own designs or use her outlines to experiment with your own colour ways.
Whether you’re new to embroidery or looking to enhance your skills, this tote bag is the perfect chance to practice the designs from the book alongside Mia, or to choose your own creative destiny and embroider how you see fit.
Intended as a companion to Embroider the Bayeux Tapestry (9781800923669, 2026), which contains a complete guide to tools and materials as well as illustrated step-by-step instructions for working the different stitches.
About Mia Hansson
Mia learnt cross stitch from her grandmother at the age of five. She continued her needle journey through school to become a Viking-age reenactment seamstress. In 2016 she started making a full-scale Bayeux Tapestry replica, knowing that it would take at least ten years to complete. What started as a labour of love became a personal challenge of epic proportions! Mia has 12K members on her Facebook group, Mia's Bayeux Tapestry Story. She lives in Cambridgeshire, UK.
