About the Author

About Diane Boden Crane

Diane Crane works as a freelance craft tutor, running classes and workshops all over the south east of England. She specialises in quilling and won no fewer than three first prizes at the International Festival of Quilling in 2002. She is also twice Popular Vote Winner in the Knitting and Stitching Show's competitions. Diane loves working with paper and enjoys sharing her enthusiasm with other people. When she isn't busy quilling, she likes gardening and collecting quotations.

About Jane Jenkins

Jane Jenkins was born and has lived in East Yorkshire virtually all of her life. She had worked as a teacher for nine years when, in 1981, her husband, Paul, brought home a book from the library, and the fascination with quilling began. Since then she has been teaching in local Adult Education classes and in workshops nationwide. In 1982 she and Paul started a small business, making and selling paper strips and designs for quilling. The business has since expanded to sell books, kits and videos throughout the world. Jane, a founding member of the International Quilling Guild, was made Honorary Vice-President for her contribution to quilling. Jane has two daughters, Cate and Jo, who are themselves accomplished quillers, and is at her happiest at home, designing new ways to quill.

If you want to learn quilling and have a large range of projects of different types at your fingertips, then here is a book that might suit. This is a compendium volume containing four previous books by four different authors on quilling wild flowers, 3D decorations, miniatures and corners and borders.

Notice that it does not include a book for beginners; there are projects here to entice the intermediate and even advanced quiller but there are also instructions on the basics. The projects themselves tend to be more suitable for those with at least some experience however, so I would advise the beginner to look elsewhere and save this one for later. There are some lovely things in here, from delicate Christmas tree angels and fairy table decorations to napkin rings adorned with autumn leaves and a kitchen memo board decorated with wild flowers. You can also find patterns to decorate cards, gift bags, pictures, boxes and more, many of which are nice chewy projects, involved and interesting. I think my own personal favorites are the 3D decorations for adorning trees and tables, and the tiny motifs on many topics that can be made into repeat borders at the end of the book. There is a lot in here to have fun with; a worthwhile addition to any papercrafter's keeper shelf.
