Portrait Sketching with Adebanji Alade
Date: Saturday 16th July 2022
Time: 10am - 1pm or 2pm - 5pm
Location: Patchings Art Centre, Calverton, Nottinghamshire, NG14 6NU

The Artist contributor Adebanji Alade strives to bring the force and power of sketch into every piece he embarks on. He likes to focus on people because he loves the play of light, moods, emotions, beauty and variety that each face brings.

The workshop

In this workshop, you will explore how to capture the essence and character of a face with brown, black and white colours on tanned paper. The focus is on free-hand sketching, structure, proportions, tonal values and edges. Following Adebanji's demonstration, participants will start their own work from reference material, with hands-on help from Adebanji.

You will receive

Each student will receive, courtesy of Daler-Rowney, a Lyra Rembrandt Sketching Set containing 11 pieces; one Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor Grey Metal Case containing 12 Polycolor Pencils, a Strathmore 400 Toned Tan A4 Sketch Pad, and a Lyra Kneadable Eraser, worth over £59(rrp).

The Lyra Rembrandt Sketching Set contains an assortment of superior-quality sketching pencils and sticks with 5mm diameter, extra strong lead and exceptional fluency. An excellent balance between dry and oil instruments. Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor Pencils are creamy crayons in a pencil form and are formulated with the highest standards of lightfastness. These premium oil-based coloured pencils can be used on paper smoothly with no wax build-up. They are easily blended and layered to produce a vast variety of hues.

The Strathmore® 400 Series Toned Sketch Pad provides artists with unique sketching and drawing possibilities for light and dark media and comprises wire-bound sheets which are micro-perforated. It is 100% recycled, contains 30% post-consumer fibre and is acid free.

The sessions

The morning session will run from 10am to 1pm and the afternoon session from 2pm to 5pm.

The costs

The cost of each three-hour session is just £60(inc VAT) per person and includes tuition from Adebanji Alade, Daler-Rowney art materials worth over £60(rrp), PLUS free entry to Patchings Art, Craft and Design Festival for the day, worth £14.
